This month’s theme is Tour de Troy. In June, we’ll visit parks, trails, a museum, and more–all right here in Troy, Michigan!

June 6, 6pm: Sylvan Glen Lake Park, Troy
5501 Rochester Road, Troy (west side of Rochester, between Square Lake Rd. and Long Lake Rd.)
Walk the paved trail along the pretty lake at Sylvan Glen Lake Park. Call it a night back in the parking lot or continue our Tour de Troy along a section of the Troy Trail that takes us into Jaycee Park for added distance. Distance: 1.25 – 4.1 miles.

June 13, 6pm: Stage Nature Center, Troy
6685 Coolidge Hwy., Troy (west side of Coolidge, between South Blvd and Square Lake Rd.)
Discover the beauty of marsh lowlands, upland forests, grassy knolls, and thickets. Listen for the calls of native birds and be soothed by the calming sounds of the Rouge River headwaters as they trickle over rocks near the trails. Paths are a mix of woodchip, dirt, and boardwalk and we’ll have a couple of hills to climb! Distance: 1.5 – 3 miles.

June 20, 6pm: Troy Historic Village & Troy Trail, Troy
60 W. Wattles Road, Troy (northwest corner of Wattles and Livernois)
From the Troy Historic Village, we’ll head east on Wattles Road to pick up the Troy Trail, following it past Daisy Knight Dog Park, all the way out to Livernois. Turn left and cross Livernois at the light at Town Center Drive. Once we’ve crossed Livernois, you have the option to head back to the Village or add on distance by walking through Jeanne M. Stine Park and some of the other paths around Troy’s city campus. Distance: 2 – 3.4 miles.

**Optional: the Troy Historic Village will be open until 8:00pm on 6/20, so you’re welcome to stay and visit after the walk! Admission is free for Troy Historical Society Members or $7/adult, $5/senior or child 6-17, and free for kids under 6.

June 27, 6pm: Northfield Hills, Troy
Northfield Hills Clubhouse, 1750 Brentwood Drive, Troy
We have special permission this evening to explore the private park at Northfield Hills! Park and gather up in the first south/east lot on your left. First, we’ll enjoy the lovely lake and serene vistas with a lap or two around the park, then for added mileage we’ll continue our walk along the paved path on Northfield Parkway. Distance: 0.75, 1.25, or 3.5 miles.
