Introductory Copper & Iron Workshop
August 12-16, 10am-12:30pm ǀ $250/Troy Historical Society Member ǀ $300/Non-Member ǀ Ages: 12 & up
Learn the traditional arts of coppersmithing and blacksmithing as you make a unique bird feeder mobile. You will learn hot and cold forging techniques including sinking, raising, chasing-and-repoussage, bending, riveting and annealing. Emphasis will be on the proper use of hammers and other hand tools, as well as the use of fire to work both metals in this weeklong workshop. No prerequisite. Click here to register.

Intermediate Copper & Iron Workshop: Sculpture
August 12-16, 6pm-8:30pm ǀ $250/Troy Historical Society Member ǀ $300/Non-Member ǀ Ages: 16 & up
Returning students will design and create a copper and iron sculpture inspired by modern British sculptor Barbara Hepworth. Emphasis will be on the importance of both positive and negative space within a composition. Hot and cold forging of copper and iron, drifting, swaging, fullering and raising are some of the techniques we will expand on in this weeklong workshop. Weekend Intensive Copper & Iron Workshop
August 24-25, 10am -5pm ǀ $350/Troy Historical Society Member ǀ $400/Non-Member ǀ Ages: 18 & up
A great alternative to our weeklong introductory workshop in copper and iron, this two-day intensive immerses you into the old-world crafts of coppersmithing and blacksmithing at a modern day pace. The proper use of fire, hammers and other tools will be emphasized as you create a unique bird feeder mobile. Sinking, raising, chasing-and-repoussage, bending, riveting, and annealing are some of the hot and cold forging techniques you will learn. No prerequisite. Click here to register.
